Long time no see.   :)

I had downgraded my net activity significantly; work and potentially going back to grad school have left little time for mucking around online, especially on a forum for a bike I didn't have anymore.  Well, I have one again.  I love my SV and will never get rid of it, but having gotten to like the track, I'm turning it more into a track bike and looking for something a little less quick (read: easy to get into trouble with the laws of the land and the laws of physics) but still enjoyable for the street, faired, for weekends and nice days.  Aurora Suzuki was getting rid of its '04 GS500Fs, so I went ahead and got one.     Part of the deal was getting the seat cut to fit my ridiculously short inseam, so the bike is spending the night at the dealer's.

And the SV stablemate, a pic that a local BMW club guy, Johnny, took.

And da commuter.

Welcome back Cotter!! Still zoomin' in the Miata? Nice to see you've got three bikes now...wish I did (envy envy). Hope you join in when the Odds n Ends section gets wild again. Since you've had a Savage 650 before I'll ask you how you think it is as far as a little back-road cruiser. The Baby GS is just too much of a sporty type bike for me and I've been considering a little Savage (S40). Some people say it won't pull the greasy string out of a cat's ass, but you've owned one so you should have the straight dope on it. Again, welcome back, and be careful. Love the Baby GS, Spain (guarding the entrance to the Med), and this forum.

Hey, mon!

Nope, I sold the Miata; bikes only.  I enjoyed my Savage, and don't think it lacked power; it's slow for a bike, but it's faster than most cars.  It'll scoot.  A pipe and a little rejetting really does wonders for it.  I rode another one recently, and found myself scraping pegs a lot, but for a cruiser, it handles well.  The gel seat is a Good Thing.  The only negative I would say is the range - it's about 2 gallons to reserve, so you're on a tether on one.

That thread subject is giving me flashbacks of that movie

I dunno - $160 isn't bad, all told.  Of course, I'm keeping the bike streetable so I can ride it to the track and minimize the other expenses...

I can't doo too much of that, though - see above.  ;)

Edit - I just clicked your Carbon link.  That is an evil link.  8)

Edit edit - yes, I'm single, but I've got my eye on a local boy.  Still, Ride West, at least, will just let you take a bike out - and you don't even have to pay for dinner. :)

Ahhh.   My "next" bike and my favorite city.  Now you're just trying to rub it in.

I probably deserve it for something along the line. ;)  Which one is "next" - SV or F?

Man, the weather this week has been crazy.  Sun, rain, sun, rain, sun, rain - all in one afternoon!  But it's time to pick up the bike, so I got a ride to the dealer today on my labmate's Harley.  Beautiful weather, blue skies, warm.  The whole way there, it was lovely.  While I was hanging around BSing with Ryan, it was lovely.  The moment I turned the key and started the bike, it started raining.  And all the way back to lab, it was pouring - lakes formed in the road, and as I was in my dry gear (the morning promised a lovely day, and it lied), I got soaked.  It was a fun ride back with new tires and new brakes.  Once the bike was ensconced in the parking garage and I turned it off - the sun came out and it stopped raining.  It's a conspiracy!

But I have to echo the sentiment - love the little GS.  Even though I still have to keep the revs down for breakin - and I will have to do a lot of riding this weekend to get her to 600!  Winding it out will be muy fun. :)

And I'll get a better picture later. :P

thats just one trackday...then you get addicted, and its once a month. thats a set of tires every few trips there. Then you start worrying about what little bodywork you have getting damaged and you get a spare set (like I did). then you realize you want the bike to be fully track ready and you're buying tire warmers, generator, etc...you are on a slippery slope....

space bodywork (upper fairing, tank, tail, etc) is costly to replace in mint condition but if you buy race plastic or oem damaged spares you can protect the bodywork from damage....

Oh, good point!  I'll have to start trolling eBay.
